So
what is this page all about ?
Very
simple, it is designed to reflect the views of a great many RC helicopter pilots in
regards to the quality and reliability of many of the products that we
all use, or rather the lack of those attributes.
The
reason it has been added is because it seems that quite a few of the
manufacturers of our helicopter spares and parts, and possibly even some
resellers are making money from making or selling very low quality goods, or passing cheap
copies off as original products, to the detriment and extra cost of us all.
In
addition to the cost of replacing parts that fail far too regularly and
for no good reason, there is always the issue of SAFETY. We all know
that if a part fails on our helicopter whilst in flight, it is going to go down almost
anywhere it wants to hit the ground. This could easily be into
other people, or ourselves, or into animals, or even into traffic driving
down a road.
Now
some people are going to say that improved quality will result in the
manufacturers increasing their prices, which may indeed be true, BUT if
you factor in the number of these items that we have to repurchase and
replace in our helicopters regularly, plus the costs of other repairs necessary
due to the resultant crash to allow us to get our helicopters airworthy again, the additional original costs
will be well and truly worthwhile.
Do
any of us want to be responsible for hitting something due to a crash - NO OF COURSE
WE DON'T, and we want to be able to trust the components we purchase to
perform their given tasks properly and safely.
I
hope that as many people as possible will contribute to
this special feature of the Site.
Maybe
we can shame these manufacturers into improving the quality of the goods
they sell to us ?
