A built Vario MD 900 kit (by Vario)                                  The real thing in UK Air Support Colours

November 29, 2009

Continued working on the lettering, and also buffing the paintwork bit by bit.

Starting to look a bit more like
the real helicopter now ?

Some of the smaller "standard" notices that you find all over all real helicopters.

In it's full grandeur - lettering wise at least

The next bit of lettering to be added is the have the word "POLICE" stretched all across the undersigned in yellow. I think that will be quite enough "hints" that this is a Police helicopter ?

There is still some lettering left to do on the yellow engine covers, plus lots of rubbing down, compounding and waxing to bring up the final finish, so I suspect that will keep me busy now until the new Starter Motor arrives from Vario, then I can finally fire the Webra .91 up and run it in on the bench before fitting it into its final resting place in the mechanics tub.

Here she is just before I drilled the main windshield glazing and screwed them into place

And above the nose with the glazing panels screwed in place.

Now all I need to do is the hardest part of the glazing - the 4 doors.

Hopefully, I will have some more ink for my inkjet printer in a day or so, and can then continue and finish the lettering on the rear doors and the left side of the boom.

The replacement starter motor is due back from Vario any day now as well, so I should be able to report on the motor run in during this week as well.
