As a result of my work with the heli-hospital, and the take up I have had for my 1-on-1, full day training sessions on how to setup RC helicopters correctly, I have decided it was time for me to offer a very special small range of learner helicopters that are ideal for learning to fly.

The reason behind this is that it has become very clear to me that a great many beginners who are just getting started into flying RC helicopters are really being badly served by us, the whole of the RC helicopter community.

A typical person who decided to buy a n RC helicopter searches the web, finds one that fits their wallet and bank account, and blindly go ahead and buy it. Once the have received it, they quickly charge up the LIPO, unfold the rotor blades out in the garden, and increase the throttle.

They have seen on the web site and all over the helicopter box that they receive that says RTF or ARTF, so they assume, INCORRECTLY of course, that it is all ready and setup so they can go outside and try their luck with it.

TYPICAL RESULT (Does this sound familar to you ?)

NO SOONER is the helicopter in the air than it leaps of sideways and probably back towards them as well. They quite naturally slam the throttle back down. OH DEAR - The nice shiny new helicopter is now lying on the grass or concrete with the rotor blades broken, the mainshaft and feathering shafts are probably also bent, and possibly the main gear has stripped it's teeth.

That's the least damage that might occur. The new pilot is totally dismayed, they have no idea how to repair it, or even what parts to ask the helicopter supplier for, and therefore a great many probably get thrown in the loft, never to see the sunshine again.

Not only have they paid a lot of money for their helicopter, but they now face another large bill for spare parts, and really have nowhere much to turn for help.  Some may be lucky, and find the Helicopter Forums on the Web that many of us belong to, and so get some real help and advice, but their initial reaction to flying helicopters is probably fairly negative, as I suspect would mine have been way back when I was first learning to fly the helicopter.

HOW TO OVERCOME THIS SCENARIO

The answer to this conundrum is complicated, but basically there are two scenarios :

SCENARIO 1

The new pilot has bought his helicopter, crashed it, but has searched the web and come across this web site. They are really in luck as I can repair it for them at very low cost, or even teach them how to do it themselves.

SCENARIO 2

The prospective new pilot has has searched the web to decide on a suitable helicopter, and has come across this web site. They are in even more luck as I can can provide them with a highly suitable low cost helicopter so that they SHOULD NOT CRASH IT the fist time they try to fly, or during many more flights for that matter.

All of these special learner helicopters will be built from the ground up by myself, and will go through the full mechanical and radio setup process.  The final stage will be that each and every one will be test flown by myself, and will have individual dated certificates of completion.

I strongly recommend the Alien Command equipped versions, which although they are a little more expensive, will more than save their cost in a very short period of time as you will not have to buy spare parts and make endless repairs.

I only make a very small charge (of £40) for the entire building process and the helicopter setup, and of course, you will be purchasing the helicopter and any other parts you may want through me. I make no surcharge on these purchases, in fact I usually charge a little less than the normal prices charged by reputable helicopter & parts stores on the Internet, so you will not be paying any more.

To give an example, the very popular Esky Belt CP V2 typically costs anywhere from around £140 to £200 depending on what "extras" are offered from reputable Internet sellers.

I will supply the Belt CP in the colour you prefer (if available), strip it and rebuild it correctly, do the complete setup of the helicopter and radio (where relevant), and test fly the helicopter.

I also offer all of the following extra benefits.

1 - I will provide you with FREE and unlimited ongoing support, which includes totally labour free repairs and rebuilds if you are unlucky enough to crash it. All you will have to pay for is the parts required + P&P, and of course shipping of the helicopter in both directions, which is typically around £8-£9 each way.

2 - I will offer you totally FREE, 1-on-1 flight training using the Phoenix flight simulator to help you get started.

3 - If you really want to learn all about your helicopter and how to set it up and repair it properly, I can offer you a full days "Master Class" alone with me in my "hanger" here in Blackpool, during which time I will show you everything you want to know about building, repairing and setting up helicopters.  I do make a small charge of £35 per day for this training, which included a sandwich lunch and of course tea/coffee.

WHAT HELICOPTER DEALS ARE AVAILABLE ?

Basically, I currently offer two different helicopters covering four separate configurations that between them cover the range of helicopters and accessories that I believe are suitable for learning to fly on, but that can still be flown as you get more experienced. They also cover a sensible price range, and are listed in ascending price range below.
