Fitting the power train components

We are now going to fit the main gear and tail drive gear.

This is the special strong nylon main gear that not only fits the Interceptor 400, BUT ALSO WORKS JUST GREAT ON THE ESKY BELT CP.

Note that there is a special spacer washer in the bag of fitting parts for this gear. This must be put in the correct way up.

Here is the main gear with the special washer resting on top the CORRECT way around. It is also now sitting on top of the tail drive gear

Slide the pair of gears through the left hand side of the frame, with the main gear on top, until the mainshaft can be pushed down through both gears as shown in the picture below.

If necessary, loosen the grub screw that is holding the collar shown on the left so that you can push the mainshaft all the way down and out of the bottom of the main gears.
Carefully line up the mainshaft with the bottom of the main gears, and rotate slowly until the hole in the mainshaft lines up with the gears as shown on the right.  Then push the long bolt through all the way, and using some thread lock, secure it on the other side with the nut provided. Tighten it as far as possible
Use your finger to pull the main gears UPWARDS so that are pushed up snugly (NOT TOO TIGHTLY) against the lower main bearing, and then while keeping it in that position, slide the locking collar down snugly against the TOP bearing and tighten the grub screw as possible (using thread lock of course)

There should be no noticeable end float on the main shaft after you have done this.
