So, I now have to wait up to 5 days for them to get here from the States before I can test fly the P&B version, then we can move on to fitting the mechanics into the fuselage.

However, I just couldn't wait to test this motor out, so here it is, fitted in to the INT400 mechanics, as I can fit the pinion at a later stage very easily. It's one of the nice features of the Interceptor 400 that fitting the motor is not too difficult at all, unlike many other similarly designed helicopters, even those such as the Trex450.

I span it up to see what happened, and she sure does sound pretty powerful, with a nice smooth spool up as well. I get the feeling this is going to work pretty well.

The red switch you can see sticking forward is the Alien command Setup Switch, which is just tie wrapped there temporarily until it al goes into the AirWolf fuselage.

Hooray, the pinions arrived from the US today, and I have chosen to fit the 12 tooth initially.  That slipped on the shaft just fine with the motor in place, and I was able to spin her up for the first time to check everything out.  Sorted the blade tracking, and got the tail holding on the turntable, so she is just about ready for her maiden flight in P&B format.

That may happen today if the weather holds as it is now, with sunshine and only a slight wind.

2 hours later - Ah well, the wind turned against me a d it all turned quite gusty, but I was really determined to check if the P&B was flying as I expected.  I managed to find a decent spot and got her in the air.  Reset the tracking bit by bit, sorted the tail gyro settings out and UP UP & AWAY - We have the mechanics flying, so now all the spurious stuff can be removed and we can start fitting it all into the AirWolf fuselage.

We have lots of lift from the new 450M Align motor, so that should be just fine, and the rotor head speed is looking good to, so I think the 12 tooth pinion is the right choice, at least so far

The adventure continues - Interceptor 400 into Align 400 AirWolf - WATCH THIS SPACE, this should be real fun. I think it is going to make a great 450 AirWolf, despite using 400 mechanics.
